Nicole Kidman's daughters help celebrate mum's historic first

<p>Nicole Kidman taken to the red carpet with her family in tow for a rare appearance, as Nicole accepted a lifetime achievement award. </p> <p>The Aussie actress was joined by her husband Keith Urban and their two daughters, Sunday, 15, and Faith, 13, who were all dressed to the nines for the occasion.</p> <p>Nicole was also surrounded by her sister Antonia Kidman, brother-in-law Craig Marran and their family for the glitzy event. </p> <p>The 56-year-old actress has now become the first Australian to win the American Film Institute Lifetime Achievement Award, with the award often being dubbed the highest honour in American cinema. </p> <p>The accolade has also been won by the likes of Julie Andrews, Al Pacino, Denzel Washington, George Clooney, Meryl Streep Morgan Freeman and many other iconic figures in the industry. </p> <p>The Academy Award winner who grew up in Sydney said on social media she was "deeply moved" to receive such a prestigious award. </p> <p>"Thank you to all of you and to the American Film institute for including me in this illustrious group of honorees — now let's have some fun!" she wrote on Instagram. </p> <p>When announcing Kidman as the recipient of the award, AFI released a statement saying, "Both a powerhouse performer, spellbinding movie star and accomplished producer, Nicole Kidman has captured the imaginations of audiences throughout her prolific career, delivering complex and versatile performances on-screen."</p> <p>"She is a force both brave in her choices and bold in each performance. Country music star dies at age 62

<p>Country music singer Toby Keith has died at the age of 62 after an 18-month battle with stomach cancer. </p> <p>A statement was posted to the musician's website confirming his passing, saying, "Toby Keith passed peacefully last night on February 5th, surrounded by his family." </p> <p>"He fought his fight with grace and courage. Please respect the privacy of his family at this time."</p> <p>Country music icon Dolly Parton led the tributes to the late star shortly after the news of his death broke. </p> <p>Taking to Instagram, she wrote, "It's always hard when we lose our brothers and sisters in country music."</p> <p>"Toby Keith was one of the greats in every way. He will be missed but his music and legacy will live on. Love Dolly."</p> <p>Musician Carrie Underwood also shared a post to her more than 13 million followers on Instagram, calling him a "a true blue cowboy".</p> <p>"Saddle up the horses, Jesus, 'cause a true blue COWBOY just made his ride up to heaven!!!" she wrote.</p> <p>"We're gonna miss you, Toby, but my heart has no doubt that you are standing in the presence of our King right now!!! “Loving grandfather” ousted as serial rapist

<p dir="ltr">A local Bondi grandfather has been ousted by police as a serial rapist - one of the worst in New South Wales.</p> <p dir="ltr">Following a long 40 years of investigations and using new technology for DNA as well as a shocking 12 crime scenes, Keith “Maggo” Simms has been identified as a serial rapist.</p> <p dir="ltr">Dubbed “The Beast of Bondi”, Simms is believed to have raped and terrorised more than 30 women in Sydney's eastern suburbs from 1986 to 2001.</p> <p dir="ltr">He died earlier this year on February 20 at the age of 66.</p> <p dir="ltr">When Simms was ready to attack a woman, he would wear a balaclava and approach them with a knife, putting a hand across their mouth and threatening to kill them.</p> <p dir="ltr">It was only in 2016, when police received a weak DNA match to a relative of Simms, that they were eventually able to tie the crimes back to him.</p> <p dir="ltr">Unfortunately for his victims, Simms died before police were able to question him and get them some form of justice.</p> <p dir="ltr">His family also had no idea and referred to him as a “loving family man”, and when his wife found out she was shocked.</p> <p dir="ltr">“His family had no idea at all … we met with his wife and she was absolutely shocked,” Detective Sergeant Shelley Johns, from Strike Force Doreen said, The Daily Telegraph reported.</p> <p dir="ltr">Sex Crimes squad boss Detective Superintendent Jayne Doherty said that despite his death, it gives his victims a peace of mind knowing he’s not out there anymore.</p> <p dir="ltr">“It was important for the victim survivors and that is why we persevered. We wanted to let them know we were not just guessing it was him. It also meant we are not still looking for someone that is still out there,” she said.</p> <p dir="ltr">“So those women who are walking down the street and are still wondering: Is that him? They now know that person is deceased.”</p> <p dir="ltr"><em>Images: The Daily Telegraph</em></p>

For me, it was like paying dues twice. I worked my way up through the clubs in Australia to get a record deal, and then moved to the US and had to start all over again from the bottom. Nicole Kidman shares the moment she knew Keith was 'the one'

<p>Nicole Kidman has revealed the sweet moment she knew she was "a goner" for her husband Keith Urban, when he turned up at the door of her New York apartment at 5 am with flowers.</p> <p>The Aussie actress told Jimmy Fallon about the special moment during an appearance on <em>The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon</em>.</p> <p>"He sat on the stoop of my New York apartment,” she said. “I came out, it was 5 am in the morning and it was my birthday, and he had flowers," Kidman recalled of the day back in June 20, 2005.</p> <p>"And that was it. I was a goner. <p>Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman love a night at the opera, but not when they're attacked with programs by avid opera fans.</p> <p>The pair found themselves in a heated exchange against an opera lover at the Sydney Opera House, where the man allegedly hit Kidman with her program.</p> <p>Of course, this was all just rumours until Urban confessed the story was true on<span> </span><em>The Kyle and Jackie O<span> </span></em>show.</p> <p>"We were sitting down with Nic's mum and we were clapping. It was a bloody great performance and everyone was cheering and cheering," Keith said.</p> <p>"I looked around and I see a few people standing and a few more and I thought 'oh I'm getting up'.</p> <p>"And then this guy behind me just whacked Nic, like really hit her, with the program."</p> <p>"It's a bit of a pickle I was in because I'm a husband and you want to defend your wife but it took a lot of restraint. Officers spoke to both men and no further action was taken," NSW Police said in a statement.</p>

"It causes so much pain and I've been lonely, and it is very, very, very hard. You see it in older people. You see it in young people. You see it now in this world. We can't even hug anymore. Loneliness is an epidemic. So, I am very fortunate to come home to him. My heart goes out to the people who don't have a person to go to now."</p> <p>She said her family keeps her grounded.</p> <p>"I said once, 'I prefer children to adults.' I like adults more now — not more than kids, though," she said. "I love being around children and we've got five kids living with me now because Keith had to go [to Nashville] to release his album. So, my sister moved in to help me while I'm filming, and we have three of her younger kids — she has six — living with us."</p> <p>"Our kids — because we travel, and we won't be apart — are used to having to learn online," she said. "But the social distance has been very difficult for them. They are working through the emotions. For a 12-year-old, it's about not being able to access friends easily. 120-year prison sentence for cult leader

<p>Keith Raniere, who ran a cult-like group that kept women as virtual sex prisoners to service him in upstate New York was sentenced to 120 years prison on Tuesday.</p> <p>Reniere was convicted on federal sex trafficking, racketeering and possession of child pornography charges last year for his role in the alleged sex cult called NXIVM (pronounced “nexium”).</p> <p>The sentence was issued by the US District Judge Nicholas Garaufis, who presided over the six-week trial last year that ended in Raniere convicted on all counts.</p> <p>Acting US Attorney Seth DuCharme said he hopes the sentence will serve as a warning to any aspiring cult leaders.</p> <p>“When justice catches up to you, as it did today, it is severe," DuCharme told reporters outside court in Brooklyn. "Keith Raniere will not be able to victimize people anymore after today's sentence and we’re very grateful for that."</p> <p>Marc Elliot, a former NXIVM member and supporter of Raniere's, said the defendant didn't get a fair trial.</p> <p>"We all should be fighting for due process no matter how much you don't like it or how inconvenient it is," Elliot said. "Because if someone or society ever turns on you, you better hope to God that due process and laws are still standing to protect you."</p> <p>Appearing on Dateline NBC from jail, Raniere apologised for the “tragedy” and “hurt” he caused the victims but also claimed he was not guilty.</p> <p>"I am innocent," Raniere said.</p> <p>"This is a horrible tragedy with many, many people being hurt," he added. "There is a horrible injustice here. And whether you think I'm the devil or not, the justice process has to be examined."</p> <p>NXIVM is the subject of the HBO docuseries “The Vow”, which is set to feature Raniere in its second season next year.</p>

Nicole Kidman’s rare admission on marriage with Tom Cruise: “We were happy”

<p> </p> <p>Nicole Kidman has made a rare statement about her marriage to Tom Cruise.</p> <p>The star opened up in an interview with the<span> </span><a rel="noopener" href="https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2020/10/05/magazine/nicole-kidman-interview.html" target="_blank">New York Times</a><span> </span>where the Australian actress said that she and 58-year-old Cruise were “happily married” while filming the 1999 film Eyes Wide Shut.</p> <p>In the film they played a married couple who dealt with infidelity.</p> <p>When Kidman was asked if working on the film gave her any "negative feelings" towards her relationship with Cruise, she simply responded, "That fits the narrative that people came up with, but I definitely didn't see it like that."</p> <p>"We were happily married through that," she said.</p> <p>"We would go go-kart racing after those scenes. We'd rent out a place and go racing at three in the morning. I don't know what else to say. Maybe I don't have the ability to look back and dissect it. Or I'm not willing to."</p> <p>Before the couple officially split in 2001, Kidman and Cruise adopted two kids.</p> <p>They share their daughter Isabella, now 27, and son Connor, now 25.</p> <p>The Big Little Lies star also revealed her experience on working with director Stanley Kubrick, who sadly died at age 70, not long after the film was completed.</p> <p>"We loved working with him. But you go, 'As long as I surrender to what this is, I'm going to have an incredible time'."</p> <p>Five years after the pair ended their marriage, the Mission: Impossible star married Katie Holmes, 41.</p> <p>The pair share daughter Suri, 14, and were married for six years before Holmes filed for divorce.</p> <p>Kidman tied the knot with musician Keith Urban in June 2006 and have welcomed two daughters together: Sunday, 12, and Faith, nine.</p>

<p>Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban have recently expanded their real estate portfolio into the currently beleaguered city of New York.</p> <p>The celebrity duo picked up a condominium in one of the city’s most exclusive precincts, in a famous building whose luxury level is off the charts.</p> <p>According to <a rel="noopener" href="https://www.dirt.com/entertainers/actors/nicole-kidman-keith-urban-house-new-york-city-1203329681/" target="_blank"><em>Variety</em></a>, Nicole and Keith parted with a mere $3.5 million the 1600-square-foot, two-bedroom, 2.5-bathroom condo in Manhattan’s highly sought-after Tribeca area.</p> <p>Situated inside Tribeca’s famous clock tower building, which previously housed the massive New York Life Insurance Company, developers converted the entire building into luxury condominiums in 2018 – and now Nicole and Keith are the newest pair to call it home.</p> <p>Shared amenities that are available to all residents of the luxury building officially situated at <a rel="noopener" href="https://108leonard.com/" target="_blank">108 Leonard</a> include a gorgeous indoor pool, fully-equipped gym/fitness centre, dining areas, rooftop gardens and more.</p> <p>Whenever they stay there, Nicole and Keith will be sharing the building with 151 other beautifully well-appointed residences.</p> <p>Other condos in the luxurious building range from $1.5 million for less than 1,000 square feet, all the way up to $11.5 million for units that are more than 3,500 square feet, according to listings on real estate site Zillow.</p> <p>According to <em>Variety</em>, one of the amenities that drew Nicole and Keith’s attention to the building is the presence of a “sky garage”, which would allow their car to be lifted hydraulically right to their unit – giving them perfect protection from the paparazzi.</p> <p>Check out all the amazing images of the property below.</p> <p>IMAGES: <a rel="noopener" href="https://108leonard.com/" target="_blank">108 Leonard</a> / Wikimedia</p>
